President Pranab Mukherji inaugurated several programmes of the Central Government and the state government under the flagship visions of Skill Development, Digital India and infrastructure development at Deoghar, Jharkhand. The President was accompanied by Governor of Jharkhand Smt Draupadi Murmu, Minister of State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Sri Rajiv Pratap Rudy,  Minister for Skill Development in the Government of Jharkhand Sri Raj Paliwal, MP Nishikant Dubey, BJP Spokesperson Shri Shah Nawaz Hussain, and top state officials including the Chief Secretary Smt Rajbala Verma.
The President and his entourage was welcomed by the Chief Secretary at the Deoghar College premises where he did an online inauguration of several projects including a Solar Street Lamp project of 44 kilometers between Deoghar and Basukinath, a Software Technology Park in the college, a hospital for the state government employees to be run by the Jharkhand Life Insurance Corporation, and a Driving Training Centre to be jointly run by the Ministries of Skill Development of the Governments of India and Jharkhand.
Speaking during the inauguration, President Mukherji expressed hope that the skill development programmes may provide substantial opportunities for employment generation for the youth of India. These programmes must secure the employment needs of the people as well as respond to the changing global demands of services and fast changing workforce. The problem of job creation must be solved in a dynamic manner and it must be ensured that people are imparted skills that also become integral to the economic development of this vast country. The President expressed his a sense of satisfaction at the achievements of Jharkhand after achieving statehood in 2000, particularly in the fields of resource management and industrial infrastructure. Coming as he does from Bengal, the President took special pleasure in remembering the area’s historical association with undivided Bengal Presidency which also comprised Orissa and Assam for a long part of modern Indian history. He remembered with pride the sacrifices of the leaders of the Santhal Hool, Sido and Kanhu, whom he hailed as pioneers of nationalist agitation against colonial rule.
Speaking during the occasion Governor Draupadi Murmu highlighted the central role industrial skills play in fast industrializing states like Jharkhand, a point that was also reiterated by Minister Rajiv Pratap Rudy. Sri Raj Paliwal expressed gratitude on behalf of the state during his Vote of Thanks.  
Earlier during the day, the President had offered his prayers at the holy Baidyanath Temple in Deoghar where he was welcomed amid Vedic incantations and stately rituals.
